LURE
SWIMMING ACTION
Lure
swimming action is very important, when targeting different
species. The swimming action is determined by the size of the bib
and body shape.
Big
bibs make lures dive deeper, whereas, smaller bibs make them run
shallow. Another factor is the angle of the bib. For further
information see Bib design. Body shape
can make the lure swim in a tight riggle or a wide slow swaying
style.
The tighter lure actions are generally designed
for quicker lure retrieves and are generally the minnow shaped
lures or sleeker body shape.
Shorter or fatter lures with big bibs will dive
deep, like slow to moderate retrieves, and swims with a wide slow
wobble. If these lures are made to swim to quickly then they flip
over and end up on top of the water. This lure action appeals to
Murray Cod and Yellow Belly. For further information see Lure
Design.
