LURING TROUT
Brown and Rainbow Trout are present in many streams and impoundments within Australia. They can be found in Western Australia, South Australia, New South Wales, and Tasmania. They are generally found in the colder climates & waters within these states.
Trout are a challenging fish to lure. They will readily take flies, small minnows and Tassie Devil style lures. The most popular type of trout fishing is fly fishing, but the use conventional lures has given hope for others to lure a trout.
Small minnows like from the macgrath range are an effective lure, but my all time favourite in the Tassie Devil style with more subdued colours. These lures are great in streams and impoundments. They have a flip-flop motion and will take both rainbows and browns. When fishing in streams, cast the lure where the water is flowing fast and work the lure in the direction of the water flow along undercut banks, weed beds, and rocks.
Trout fishing is very challenging, relaxing, and beautiful country can be covered in the process. Be patient and have fun and remember the fishing rules and season regulations.
